Pirates of Caribbean movie to be held up every time a train passes during Gold Coast filming
THE Norwegian duo directing Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales could be forced to call cut every nine minutes during filming at their temporary outdoor studios at Helensvale to overcome loud background noise from trains.
Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg have arrived in Australia to make their Pirates debut as co-directors of the fifth film in producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s billion-dollar franchise.
Cameras will begin rolling on the $250 million production on the Gold Coast on February 12.
Crew members involved in building two huge outdoor stages from shipping containers on land at Helensvale told the Gold Coast Bulletin noise from trains travelling past the site to and from the Nerang and Helensvale stations is so loud crew fear it could cause unexpected delays during filming.
“The trains come past every nine minutes — if they are on time,” the insider said.
“They’ll have to shout ‘cut’ as the trains get near and call ‘action’ again as soon as they pass.”
